BRIEF 06: ENVIRONMENT DESIGN RESEARCH

One of my roles was to consider some interesting and alternative environment design solutions for the brief, considering things aside from the obvious poster billboards and bus mock ups to make our concept stand out. With our design decisions made clearer I looked into designs that I though would work well with what was already created.

Light Installations

With our pattern using isometric cubes and rectangles, neon lighting within the city and landscape would look really nice for this concept.

Light boxes could be used opposed to generic street lights, this again fits in with the geometric pattern.

City letters or typography could work outside train stations or within the city centre to highlight the city, this would be a alternative environment feature to consider.

3D Installations

Considering how the isometric pattern could be used as a 3D installation on walls and other extrior usage.

The cubes could be used as a feature within the city incorporating images of the city and it being interactive.

Using the isometric idea to build sculptures and other related artwork in the city.

Way Finding

Cubed street signage from buildings

Coloured cobbles on certain streets, colours that refer to each city

Information boxes with shapes incorporated

Vinyl and perspex designs of the side of buildings, floors and walls.

Geometric and isometric wall fixtures for way finding in the city and transport.

Overview

Through this research I have been able to identify a multitude of ways of how our concept could be interpreted in the environment. The next step is to see how I can transfer this digitally and make it look realistic.
