BRIEF 09: PHOTOGRAPHY + PROP RESEARCH

With our photoshoot on the 14th, I decided to research into selection of photography to consider for the brief and what needs to be considered.

The whistles style of photography is very monochromatic and uses beige tones.

So this style and features of photography will be something to consider for the brief, to keep in line with the brands guidelines.

Body

With the brief being a campaign for a perfume, I thought that looking into photography that highlights body parts that the perfume would be sprayed onto would be a ideal thing to consider.

Commodity

Helmut Lang

Saint Laurent

Jil Sander

Other

Fragrance

I decided to also look into some product photography for when the packaging and bottles have arrived, for influence.

I really like the use of the scents being apart of the photography this will give more visual depth to the images and has a craft quality and consideration to the development of the fragrance.

Chanel

Byredo

I really like the interesting lighting reflecting in the background and on the bottle, this highlights the fragrance and creates some interesting textures.

Tom Ford

Viktor Rolf

A lot of the Whistles presence uses geometric and straight shapes in their in store design, this would something interesting to experiment with for photography.

Nassai

I love the contrasting imagery to define the male and female fragrances, this is something that would look really bold and interesting for the product photography shots.

Props

Another consideration for the brief was to look into props for the brief to use in the photoshoot that the models can interact with and also highlight the fragrance.

I began looking into boxes that the fragrance can be put onto and also at how the models could use them for the shots. I think boxes create a unique visual quality with the different levels and would be an interesting feature to have.

I also began to look into type installations that could be used through the logo, this could also be another outlet for more distinctive photography.
